1. Definition of personal information

On the Site, “personal information” means “personal information” as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual by the name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact details, or other descriptions contained in the information, as well as information that can identify a specific individual on its own, such as the insurer number of a health insurance card (personally identifiable information).

Kilarity recognizes the importance of personal information, considers its protection a social responsibility, complies with laws and regulations concerning personal information, and properly acquires, uses, and manages the personal information handled on the Site. Information collected on the Site is handled appropriately within the scope of the purpose of use.

3. Scope of application

This Policy applies only to the Site.

4. How personal information is collected

Kilarity may collect personal information such as names and telephone numbers when users make inquiries through the Site. We also collect usage history and similar data via cookies, and the Site may send cookies to visitors’ computers.

A cookie is a mechanism that stores usage history, input details, and other data exchanged between the browser and the server as a file on the user’s computer when a website is used.

5. Purpose of collecting and using personal information

Personal information entrusted to us by users on the Site is used as a means of contacting users, providing information about our services, and answering questions. This personal information is not used for any purpose other than that for which it was provided.

Usage history and similar data collected via cookies are obtained and used by third parties that are external partners. Cookie information obtained by third parties is handled in accordance with their own privacy policies. Such data is used via external partners to improve the quality of the Site’s services and is not used for any other purpose.

6. Changes to the purpose of use

Kilarity may change the purpose of use of personal information only when the new purpose is reasonably recognized as being relevant to the purpose before the change.

When the purpose of use is changed, Kilarity will notify users of the new purpose or announce it on the Site by the method prescribed by Kilarity.

7. Provision of personal information to third parties

Kilarity does not provide personal information to third parties without the prior consent of the user, except in the following cases or as otherwise permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other laws and regulations.

1. When it is necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
2. When it is especially necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
3. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or a party entrusted by either in performing the duties prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining the consent of the individual is likely to hinder the performance of those duties
4. When the following matters have been announced or published in advance and Kilarity has filed a notification with the Personal Information Protection Commission
   1. That the purpose of use includes provision to third parties
   2. The items of data provided to third parties
   3. The means or method of provision to third parties
   4. That provision of personal information to third parties will be stopped at the request of the individual
   5. How requests from the individual are accepted
5. Notwithstanding the preceding items, the recipient of the information is not considered a third party in the following cases.
   1. When Kilarity entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
   2. When personal information is provided in connection with business succession due to a merger or other reasons
   3. When personal information is used jointly with specific parties, and the individual has been notified in advance — or placed in a position where they can easily learn — of that fact, the items of personal information jointly used, the scope of joint users, the purpose of use, and the name of the person or entity responsible for managing the information

8. Disclosure of personal information

When requested by an individual to disclose their personal information, Kilarity will disclose it to the individual. However, disclosure may be withheld in whole or in part if any of the following applies, and if a decision is made not to disclose, the individual will be notified accordingly.

1. When disclosure may harm the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party
2. When disclosure may significantly hinder the proper conduct of Kilarity’s business
3. When disclosure would otherwise violate laws and regulations

Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, information other than personal information, such as history and characteristic information, will not be disclosed in principle.

9. Disposal of personal information

When personal information is no longer necessary in light of its purpose of use, Kilarity will erase or dispose of it. Such erasure and disposal are carried out by necessary and appropriate methods to prevent risks such as external leakage, and only to the extent necessary for the conduct of business.

10. Changes to this Policy

The content of this Policy may be changed without notice to users, except for matters otherwise provided for by laws and regulations or this Policy.

Unless otherwise specified by Kilarity, the revised privacy policy takes effect when posted on the Site.
